Teresa is a Licensed Professional Counselor.  She obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Milligan College with a double minor in Biology and Bible.  She completed her Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Johnson University.  She has been licensed in Georgia since 2002.
Teresa has a passion for aiding in the repair of broken relationships by reconnecting the individual emotionally, mentally, and spiritually to self, others, and God.  Brokenness can result when an individual experiences trauma.  It can also result when an individual violates their own belief systems or boundaries in relationship or with God's word.  Healing is achieved through the use of enhanced communication skills, emotional regulation, thought stopping, prayer and forgivness work, and application of God's word.
Teresa's counseling is influenced by Family Systems Therory, Strategic Family Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and the Word of God.  Application is made with individuals, couples, and families across all ages.
Problems that benefit from the prior listed approaches and means include but are not limited to:

personal/emotional distress, anxiety, depression, anger, fear, panic, phobia, substance abuse or addiction, compulsive thoughts/behaviors; sexual concerns and
reactions to stressful events including but not limited to
affairs, divorce, bereavement, conflicted or broken relationship, job conflict or loss, serious illness or injury, and physical or sexual abuse.  Also responsive to treatment are natural life transitions including but not limited to marriage, birth of child, passage through adolecence, and intro to adulthood, retirement, aging, and death.

 

Teresa incorporates into her treament approach creative play when working with kids around issues like anxiety, anger, and grief.  These feelings often occur when kids face parental divorce or death, performance pressures, and bullying.
