Teresa is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She obtained a Bachelor of Science with a major in Psychology and a double mionr in Biology and Bible. She recieved her Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy at Johnson University. She has been licensed by the state of Georgia as a Professional Counselor since 2002.
Teresa has a passion for the repair of broken relationships by reconnecting people emotionally, mentally, and spiritually with self, others, and God. Brokenness can result when an individual experiences trauma. Brokenness can also occur when the individual violates their own personal belief systems or boundaries in relationship or with God's word. Connection and healing are achieved through the use of enhanced communication skills, emotional regulation, thought stopping, prayer and forgiveness work, and application of god's Word.
Teresa's counseling is influenced by Family Systems Theory, Strategic Family Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavoral Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and the Word of God. Application is made with individuals, couples and families across all ages.
Areas of concern that can benefit from the prior listed approaches and means include but are not limited to:
personal/emotional distress like anxiety, depression, anger, fear, panic, phobia, substance abuse or addiction, compulsive thoughts/behaviors; and sexual concerns
as well as:
reactions to stressful life events like affairs, divorce, bereavment, conflicted or broken relationships, job loss or conflict, serious illness or injury and physical or sexual abuse.
and:
responses to natural life transition including but not limited to marriage, birth of children, passage thru adolesence and intro into adulthood, empty nest, retirement, aging, and death.
Teresa also incorpoates her approach with creative play when working with children facing issues like anxiety, fear, anger, grief and depression. These issues often occur when facing parental divorce or death, performance pressures, and bullying.
